A finished basement is the cheapest square footage you will ever add to a house — if the moisture, the framing and the electrical are handled properly first. EZEfix & Renovations finishes basements across Fairfield and New Haven Counties, Connecticut. We are still adding photos from recent basement projects; browse the gallery in the meantime to see the finish and detail we bring to every job.

Every piece of a finished basement

11 services, done in the right order: moisture, framing, electrical, then the finishes.

Basement Demolition & Clear-Out

Old paneling, framing, subfloor and storage build-outs removed and hauled, leaving a clean slab and open walls to build from. We flag moisture staining, efflorescence and any active water intrusion before framing starts — finishing over a wet basement is money spent twice.

Framing & Blocking

Partition walls laid out and framed to your plan, with soffits to hide ducts and beams and solid blocking wherever a television, cabinet or handrail will land later. Framing is held off the foundation wall where the assembly calls for it, so nothing wicks.

Non-Load-Bearing Walls & Built-Ins

New partition walls to carve a bedroom, office or gym out of an open basement, plus the built-ins that make it feel finished: closets, built-in cubbies and benches, shelving nooks, a media wall, and storage under the stairs. Framed, insulated for sound where it matters, and drywalled with the rest of the room.

Basement Insulation

Rigid board against the foundation wall as a moisture and thermal break, batt insulation in the stud bays and between joists for sound. A basement loses heat through the slab and the rim joist, and both get addressed rather than just the walls you can see.

Drywall Installation & Finishing

Board hung, taped and finished through three coats to a paint-ready surface, with corner bead set true and screw lines sanded flat. Ceilings are hung so you keep access to shutoffs, cleanouts and junction boxes where you will need them.

Basement Flooring

Luxury vinyl plank over a flattened, moisture-checked slab — the right floor for below grade, where hardwood and laminate do not belong. Minor dips are skim-leveled first so the plank lays flat and the joints stay locked.

Basement Electrical

Outlets, switches and dedicated circuits run with a licensed electrician, plus panel upgrades and new home runs where the existing service will not carry a finished space. Wired to current Connecticut code and ready for inspection.

Recessed & Ceiling Lighting

Recessed lights laid out for a low ceiling, where placement and trim choice do more for the room than fixture count ever will. Fixtures, ceiling fans and dimmers installed with a licensed electrician while the framing is still open — the cheapest time it will ever be done.

Interior Doors, Trim & Millwork

Pre-hung and pocket doors set plumb and swinging true, plus baseboard, casing, crown and custom built-ins. Trim is what stops a finished basement from looking like a finished basement.

Basement Bathroom Addition

A half or full bath below grade, with supply and drain rough-in extended or relocated, fixtures set, and the room tiled and vented properly. Plumbing run with a licensed plumber.

Basement Painting

Walls and ceilings primed and finished in two coats, with the correct primer for new board and for any masonry left exposed.

What clients say about working with us

Unedited Google reviews, including a finished basement in Weston.

5.0 out of 5 from 44 Google reviews

Ezequiel was the best at helping through the entire process of my basement remodel in Weston, CT. from planning and budgeting through execution to my satisfaction, the price was ideal for the quality of work that i received I would certainly recommend working with them.

Daisy Marie Miller, Weston, Google review

So I just had these guys do a full reno on my multifamily in Derby, two kitchens and two bathrooms, and honestly I'm still kind of amazed it only took five weeks. … What I really liked though was how easy they were to deal with the whole time, they kept me updated, stayed on schedule, and there weren't any random extra charges thrown at me last minute like you sometimes get with contractors. Price was really fair too for everything that got done.

This is the 2nd job we have had EZEFix do for us, we couldn’t be happier! They are kind, hard workers who never fail to show up and get the job done!

Basement finishing questions, answered

Moisture, bathrooms and who does the trades.

My basement gets damp. Can it still be finished?

It has to be dealt with first. Before framing starts we flag moisture staining, efflorescence and any active water intrusion, because finishing over a wet basement is money spent twice. Once the moisture is handled, rigid board goes against the foundation wall as a moisture and thermal break and framing is held off the wall so nothing wicks.

Can you add a bathroom in the basement?

Yes. A half or full bath below grade, with the supply and drain rough-in extended or relocated, fixtures set, and the room tiled and vented properly. The plumbing is run with a licensed plumber.

Do I need to hire separate electricians, plumbers and drywall crews?

No. We are the general contractor, and our own trade partners handle the electrical and plumbing. You have one point of contact from the first call to the final walkthrough.
